Like many countries and territories of the former USSR, PMR suffers from the large quantities of completely bogus philatelic, material bearing the letters "ПМР", being printed and circulated to unsuspecting collectors all over the world. Such material is entirely worthless in philatelic terms and collectors should be made aware of this fact.
The material is generally produced using popular collecting themes such as dogs, sports, cars, transport etc. It is perceived by the printers that thematic collectors are less concerned about the philatelic validity of the material and more concerned about collecting "pretty pictures" of their favourite theme.
