New Director of
the PMR State Stamp
Enterprise
August 6,
2012 |
|
Vsevolod
Lavrentiev Has Been Appointed as
the New Director of the PMR
State Stamp Enterprise.
The State
Unitary Enterprise "Stamps of
Pridnestrovie" is the
organization responsible for the
publications of all postage
stamps in PMR. I am delighted to
announce that a great supporter
of PMRstamps.org, Mr Vsevolod
Lavrentiev, has been appointed
as its Director.
Mr
Lavrentiev, himself a keen
philatelist, has exciting
and ambitious plans for the
future. New stamps will have
standard perforations, will
be produced in larger
quantities and will be much
more affordable to the
average collector. In 2012,
the plan is to issue stamps
with themes including:
football, dogs, mushrooms
and memorials.
Mr
Lavrentiev has kindly agreed
to co-operate fully with
PMRstamps.org in the supply
of detailed information
about all new issues.
Finally, PMRstamps.org has
its long-awaited
co-operation from the PMR
postal authorities.
Further
information (in Russian) can
be found at the following
links:

We wish Mr
Lavrentiev the best success
in his new position. |

PMR Europa 2012
"Issue" Added to Catalogue
June 10,
2012 |
|
The
Privately-Made PMR "Issues" for
Europa 2012 Have Been Added to
the Catalogue.
Each year, an
unidentified outfit from Germany
produces a bogus Europa issue
for PMR. These consist of single
stamps, booklets and separate
booklet panes and/or minisheets.
The quality of
this material is usually quite
excellent and naturally Europa
collectors are keen to get their
hands on this stuff. Often the
collectors are unaware of the
bogus nature of the material.
After all, PMR is not a member
of the Europa CEPT organisation
and therefore cannot issue
Europa stamps. Because the
material is in such high demand,
I list it in its own section as
an information service to
collectors.

Google Translation Languages
Added to
All Site Pages.
Thanks to those kind people
at Google, I have now added:
Simplified Chinese,
Belarusian, Hungarian,
Polish and Ukrainian to the
drop-down lists of available
languages for automatic site
translation. These were
chosen based on my site
visitor statistics.
I have
great fun looking at my site
in Chinese. I have
absolutely no idea if the
translations are even 80%
correct, but hopefully my
non-English-language readers
will be able to navigate
around the site and be able
to understand the basic
information. |

2011 Official Issues
Listings Are Now Online.
At last, I am up-to-date
with my official listings
catalogue. The (complex)
February 2011 issue for the
150th Birth Anniversary of
Nikolai Dmitrievich Zelinski
has been completed,
including those strange
colour variants.
Next
project... field stamps for
the Russian and Ukrainian
peacekeeping forces. This
should be interesting. |

2010 Official Issues
Listings Are Now Online.
This was complex because I
turned up many extremely
rare, limited-edition
varieties with special
silver overprints to
commemorate the 20th
anniversary of Independence.
Hopefully I've got
everything correct.
Now on to
2011. |

Google Translation Added to
All Site Pages.
This is something I have
been meaning to do for a
very long time. Today I
re-published all the site
pages to include the Google
Translation service. You can
select from a list
containing Russian, German,
French, Italian, Romanian,
Japanese, Korean or Spanish.
If you would like me to add
another language to this
list, please send me an
email.
Please
remember that Google
Translation is a completely
automated service and that
the translations they
provide can sometimes be
quite incorrect. Non-English
speaking readers may find
some to the results to be
very amusing, however, they
will still be able to
understand the basic
message.
For my
Brazilian visitors, I just
want to tell you that the
book is on the table.
Have fun ! |

I've Been
Away.... Now I'm Back
February,
2011
PMRstamps.org web site is up and
running again. The site was
taken down in 2007 due to other
work commitments on my
part My apologies for that. I've
now partnered with Mr
Vsevolod Lavrentiev of
www.stampvilla.com in
Moldova who has very kindly
agreed to provide with with
all the new issues
information from 2007 to
now.
Unfortunately I let my
registration of the original
domain name pmrstamps.com
lapse and that name is no
longer available to me, so
I've been forced to change
the site name to
pmtstamps.org.
Over the
coming weeks, you can expect
to start seeing all the new
official issues information
as well as updated details
of all the bogus materials
pretending to be from PMR.
Check back frequently for
updates. Enjoy !

"Tariff Stamps" Listings Re-Worked
February 6,
2007 |
|
Leading
expert provides the information
necessary to complete this
section.
Mr Vladimir Babich, one of
the leading experts in the field
of PMR philately, has kindly
provided me with masses of
information regarding the
Moldovan/PMR machine and manual
tariff stamps. This whole
section has been completely
reworked and should now be very
accurate and correct.

revised listings.

Mistakes Revealed
in the "Tariff Stamps"
Listings
January 27,
2007 A leading
expert in the field of PMR
philately has revealed serious
errors in the Tariff Stamps
section of this catalogue.
Sincere thanks
to Mr Vladimir Babich, one of
the leading experts in the field
of PMR philately, for pointing
out serious errors in my Tariff
Stamps listings. The information
in that section should be
disregarded until further
notice.
Mr Babich has
kindly agreed to co-operate
fully in the re-creation of
these lists. We hope to create
the best (and the first)
detailed study of this complex
area. Please check back soon for
details.

Fiscal Stamps
Study Now Online
January 27,
2007 |
|
The
precursors of the "Suvorov"
definitive stamp were the fiscal
stamps of 1992/93.
Although not
postage stamps, the fiscal
stamps attached to banknotes in
the early nineties were the
precursors of the "Suvorov"
definitive stamps we see today.
It's an interesting piece of
local history and worthy of a
small study which you can see by
clicking here.

Suvorov
Definitives Listings -
COMPLETED !
January 22,
2007 This
exceptionally complex area of
PMR philately presented enormous
challenges but is now complete.
The four
series of these definitives were
issued between the years 2002
and 2006. Who would have guessed
that there would be so many
different varieties. I had to
list all the colour types, all
the different types of
inscriptions and all the
unofficially issued "essay"
types.
I still need
to write the Fiscal Stamps
study, but in the meantime, I am
very satisfied that I now have a
truly comprehensive list. Check
out the index
here.

Suvorov
Definitives Listings - Work
Remains to Be Done
January 18,
2007 The
2001-2006 definitive issues with
portraits of Gen. Suvorov are
any extremely complex area and
further research/scanning needs
to be done to complete those
lists.
The Suvorov
definitives originated as fiscal
stamps attached to currency bank
notes. From 2001 onwards, they
have been surcharged and made
available for use as definitive
postage stamps. But there are
many, many types and varieties
and information regarding these
issues is difficult to find.
Right now
there is a very basic list of
these stamps in the PMRstamps
catalogue. Over the coming
weeks, I plan to expend these
listing extensively and provide
a fully comprehensive guide to
this complex area. Stay tuned !

PMR Tariff Stamps
Catalogue Added
January 18,
2007 Another
first for PMRstamps - The only
catalogue for the PMR tariff
stamps is now online.
Have you ever
wondered about those strange
envelopes and postcards that
bear hand-stamped surcharges?
Wonder no more. A background
history and a full list of all
known types is now available by
clicking here.

Are There Any
FDC's for PMR ?
January 10,
2007 Do PMR
issue any First Day Covers and
if so, is there a listing ?
The answer is
yes, but not for every issue and
the First Day covers are not
always printed on specially
designed envelopes.
All known
First Day covers and First Day
cancellations details and scans
have now been added to each
issue listing. Just click on the
"FDC" link on any catalogue
index or detailed listing page.

PMR Bogus Stamps
- What to Do ???
December 16,
2006 Vast
quantities of PMR bogus material
printed in 2006 makes detailed
listings extremely difficult.
It is easy to
say that any "stamps" inscribed
"Gagauzia" are bogus, but this
is not that case when it comes
to PMR. Some of those stamps are
genuine and some are completely
bogus.
As with
Gagauzia, I have been offered
vast quantities of bogus
material inscribed "PMR" in
2006. I need to make collectors
aware what is genuine and what
is not. It is not enough to say,
"Whatever is in the official
section is genuine and
everything else is bogus". The
"genuine" sections include lots
of grey items and forged
imperforates etc.
I will attempt
to keep an eye on the web
auctions and find images of all
this bogus PMR material as it
becomes available. But I will no
longer be scanning and providing
detailed listings for each of
these item. A low-resolution
picture is all that will be
provided and the listings will
be arranged by theme only.

December 16,
2006 My
catalogue update plans for the
coming 12 months:
Much
work remains to be done on PMR
listings, old and new. Here is my plan:
-
PMR -
2005/2006 stamps updates
-
PMR 1991-2006
FDC updates
-
PMR - early
overprints
-
PMR - Tariff
stamps updates

First Look at the
new Official PMR Catalogue
Reveals Surprises !
October 29,
2005 A new
official PMR stamp catalogue has
been issued in Tiraspol in
September. I have been sent some
scanned pages and it shows many
previously unknown varieties of
the "Suvorov" definitives.
Official
information regarding PMR stamp
issues is scarce to say the
least. To date, I have been
forced to use my own collection
and advice received from
knowledgeable collectors to put
together our own catalogue
listings.
Now with the
release of this new catalogue,
it appears that we have
underestimated the number of
Suvorov definitive stamp
varieties that were actually
issued. I am are now in the
process of translating the new
official catalogue from Russian
into English and as soon as this
is done, we will be amending our
current Suvorov listings
accordingly. |
PMR Europa
"Issues" Catalogue Now
OnLine
October 5,
2005
|
We have
been seeing Europa
"issues" for PMR in
circulation since 2000.
PMRstamps now
presents the first
detailed online
catalogue for these
bogus issues.
the catalogue index.
PMR is
not a member of the
Europa/CEPT organisation
and therefore is not
entitled to issue
postage stamps bearing
their logo.
However, since
the "European Community" series
in 2000, we have seen Europa
stamps in circulation bearing
the name "PMR".
These are, of
course, privately produced bogus
items and are made in
Germany. We can find stamps,
booklets, minisheets in the form
of booklet panes and even a few
souvenir sheets.
The quality,
especially of the later
material, is very high and
unsuspecting collectors could
easily be forgiven for mistaking
this material for genuine postal
issues. |

New Printed PMR
Catalogue to be Published
September 30,
2005 A new and
detailed stamp catalogue for PMR
is to be released in the first
week of October 2005.
My contacts in
Moldova have informed me about
the publication a new and
detailed printed stamp catalogue
for PMR, due for release in the
first week of October 2005.
Naturally, I
have reserved an advance copy,
but at this time I cannot say
what language is used or just
how detailed the listing are.
Neither can I say who the
publisher is. However, this will
be the first detailed stamp
catalogue I have seen for PMR
and will be a valuable source of
data for my own listings.
I will provide
full details in this news
section as soon as I have the
catalogue in my possession.

PMR Official
Issues Catalogue Now OnLine
September 29,
2005 The
PMRstamps catalogue of
official issues for PMR is now
online.
The
long-awaited PMRstamps
catalogue of official issues for
PMR is now online. Information
about this material was
extremely difficult to find, but
I am happy that at least 99% of
the details have been listed.
I have
included scans and information
for all known officially issued
PMR material from 1993 to date,
including all known
imperforates, minisheets,
varieties and errors.
Only details
regarding FDS's remain to be
finalised. I expect to have this
information my the end of
January 2007.
